Welcome to the Save and Load Club, a book club community centered around Visual Novels!
What’s a Visual Novel book club?
This format follows the generic idea of book clubs, being a group of people that decide to read something together, and later discuss it. In our case this is just for Visual Novels instead of actual books!
Who is this for?
People interested in Visual Novels that want to read something together with others and discuss it afterwards in a nice environment! Potentially even getting to discover new novels and franchises through suggestions other users make on the site.
How does this work?
If you are intrigued the first step you have to do is register. To keep things manageable, you have to provide a proper reason for joining and will be manually approved!
Once you are in, feel free to introduce yourself over here!
Afterwards, if you have any, make suggestions for Visual Novels to be read in this thread. Be sure to read the rules and guidelines in the main post before!
If a Visual Novel to be read has been decided on, a session of Save and Load will be started. A “Session” is just the reading of one novel. A thread and sub-category of the Sessions category will be created and you can simply state your intent of reading (e.g. “join a session”) with replying to a given post.
Depending on the length of a Visual Novel, a session is usually a month long. If a Novel is longer, like upwards of 50 hours of reading time, the session length will be adjusted as required, but we’ll not make them longer as 3 months.
You then have time to read the Visual Novel. Once you are finished, you can contact a member of staff (who it is is usually specified in the session post) and you will gain access to a hidden category for the session in which you can then discuss the VN.
If a VN has an episodic split, there might even be categories per episode, to enable discussion in-between. That however depends on the novel of course and will be specified in the corresponding session posts.
What are the rules?
Quickly condensed, the rules are:
- While 18+ content isn’t the the only kind of content being discussed, this is an 18+ community.
- Spoilers are only allowed in the designated categories.
- This forum is not a space for piracy discussions around Visual Novels.
- As always, be civilized towards each other, harassment in any form is not tolerated.

Why a forum and not a Discord server?
Not everything needs to be a Discord server!
