What a promising title for Chapter 3.. :drum:

Just finished the chapter.

Compared to the previous chapters, this one felt less…delusional? Not sure how to word it, but Takako’s interactions with her surroundings feel more real, compared to the chapters from Sachiko’s point of view.

I guess the above makes sense though, when Takako’s condition is memory loss, while Sachiko is having hallucinations.

The appearance of the diary is quite interesting. I wonder who sent that to Takako. Considering Takako knows the writing is from Sachikos perspective, but apparently not written by Sachiko, this gets quite mysterious indeed. Now after reading and thinking about it, even though it was addressed to Takako, I wonder if it was ever sent to her. They found it in the attic while cleaning up, so…was Takako trying to send it away and she actually wrote it and forgot about it?

Once again, trying to piece together Sanae in this chapter. Telling a story about people losing their personality while staying in the sanatorium to end up disappearing entirely almost feels crude.

Also, it becomes more interesting to try and figure out which perspective is the one that’s an illusion. From Sachiko’s perspective, it’s currently a mansion and in the past (worded as, a very long time ago) was a sanatorium. But in Takako’s perspective, it currently is a sanatorium. I might need to think about this some more though.

Kozue is also becoming an important puzzle piece, as she is the only person that is fully present/interacted with in both perspectives. Her actually wearing that dress they bought her was very sweet though, the entire christmas party actually was.

So much to think about and theorize, I almost didn’t want to put down the game and continue reading the next chapter straight up–

The diary not seeming to have been written by Sachiko, because of subtle differences in how she would actually write but still being from her perspective is weird. And Takako getting headaches when she thinks about the experiences directly after reading is making me wonder. Whoever the person we’re following here is, we at least know they must have actually been there.

I love Kozue , she’s so cute!! The CG in the bath felt a little.. unneeded though. But she was super pretty in the dress.

What is giving me a weird feeling is how Mayuko seems to interact with Sanae to the extent that she apparently looks at her, comments on her body, and also asks Takako if something she plans on buying is for Sanae, yet Sanae doesn’t seem to actually interact with her in return. I’m not sure about Kozue, as she just doesn’t say much and goes along with what Takako is doing (to an extent). But aside from Sanae seemingly being way more sickly in general I’m just not sure I believe in her being.. ā€œrealā€ anymore.

I also immediately continued into Chapter 4 but fell asleep so I wanted to get my thoughts about Ch 3 out real quick before I forget what happens when.

A spooky start… patients disappearing from the sanatorium…! :ghost:

Surprisingly, Takako’s diary wasn’t as empty as we expected, although not very detailed either. Sachiko’s childhood one, in comparison, seems pretty detailed!

How did Mayuko have it?

It would be pretty simple if Mayuko was an older Sachiko, but Takako didn’t seem much older in the CG, though neither did Kozue there…

Can’t find my screenshot, but I’m pretty sure some character said something like ā€œKozue never changesā€. Hm.

Feels like time is somehow non-linear, both for the narration and in the characters’ perspective, though I have no idea of what a linear timeline of events would look like at the moment.

I see Takako’s transition card and jingle haven’t changed from Chapter 1.

Oh, what if those denote a change in time, not necessarily a skip ahead?

Wondering how the colors we see in them are related with the characters in the novel.
Sachiko is blue, Takako is green, and Narasaki must be orange-pink.

What did the blue and green mixing in Chapter 2 mean?

Replies!

…what’s Sanae’s personality, anyway?

Yes!

I feel in the same way about it, but stronger than ā€œunneededā€. Much more than unneeded. :grimacing:

Wait, if Sachiko and Mayuko are the same person, that would make Sanae… one of Sachiko’s hallucinations… taken form?
