Chapter 5 - A Cat in an Aquarium

Chapter 5 up next!

This was probably the shortest chapter so far.

I wonder whose eyes were behind Sachiko in Takako’s dream of that cave. Trying to piece together who it could be, especially since they apparently were of smaller figure.

And, now things are getting interesting with Narasaki. I was already wondering who Narasaki really was with the last Takako chapter having another childhood part in it, in which Narasaki was referred to at the very end with “but I’m not alone” by Sachiko…which already felt like she was either referring to someone not actually there or something inanimate at least.

I can’t remember right off the bat right now, but wasn’t Sachiko (or “Narasaki”) carrying around a puppet in the previous chapters as well? Or, it at least was mentioned.

Additionally, with the diary progressing, I feel like Sachiko and Takako have been in a children’s hospital kind of thing? Of course, nurse is a bit ambiguous here, because it could indeed be a nurse or a kindergartener, but they have been playing doctor in almost every childhood scene there, which is kind of suspicious. And that might line up with the theory that Sachiko actually has been the one that something has happened to, as others theorized.

Also, regarding Steffo’s theory with the scene switches: Looking at it, it feels like there are way more clear scene changes (with those intermission screens) in Takako chapters, compared to Sachiko, for example.

Indeed a very short chapter.

My money is on Narasaki simply being present as a doll that Sachiko named such and not a real person ever. Perhaps she had already developed her as some kind of invisible friend at the time or they’re just playing with the doll as kids would normally do.

I’m wondering if the scene in the cave is just a representation of a personality/facet trying to get closer to presenting outside or if I am reading way too much into the multiple personality thing I’ve gotten into my head.

Frankly, at this point I am wholly unsure of who died, when anything is taking place or if the person we’re seeing the perspective of is actually the one it says in the corner or if the whole thing is just a GIANT case of unreliable narrator meets Personality Disorder ft. Lesbians

The little kiss CG was soo cute though, I love them.

To answer this question:

“I can’t remember right off the bat right now, but wasn’t Sachiko (or “Narasaki”) carrying around a puppet in the previous chapters as well? Or, it at least was mentioned.”
Yes, she was. Lily even offered to repair it.

Edit: I can’t seem to quote and spoiler tag the above, sorry. :person_facepalming:

Short one indeed!

Don’t have much to say here…

Notes!

We see a yellow transition screen for the first time here! Yellow… just like…

Why does Sachiko refer to her classmates as “the children”? Feels like she was a parent among them.

This whole chapter strongly implies that Mayuko wants to tell Takako that she is older Sachiko…

Weird orange small light thing spotted! I have absolutely no clue what that is!

A-ha. So we learn from the diary that Narasaki does not have a doll mascot of the clinic… Narasaki is the doll!

…but then… since it was Narasaki who told Sachiko… is Takako really dead?

Is speaking via Narasaki the way Sachiko is processing her feelings?

Are Takako and Sachiko headmates themselves???

Replies!

Yup, the “Narasaki Clinic mascot”!

That… checks out, I think.

Most, but not all, of them are green as well.

Maybe? I absolutely have no idea at this point.
