Well. That was…confusing.

The scene at the beginning of the chapter was…quite confusing.

Some thoughts/questions:

  • It’s abundantly clear that Narasaki is just a different view of Sachiko, especially when she describes her own reflection in the puddle on the beach (with long black hair).

  • In the cave, Narasaki mentioned that that one way would lead to “Takako’s sanatorium”…but how would Sachiko know about this? Because it’s only the sanatorium from Takako’s perspective, seemingly playing at a whole different time even.

  • I also wonder what the metaphorical meaning was behind leaving that one Sachiko from the dream behind in the cave. It means that Sachiko didn’t choose to be stuck in her memories, but it’s also a bit confusing since Sachiko wakes up again in the mansion, and we’re not just stuck with Narasaki.

  • Lily’s premonition of noticing there’s two personalities in Sachiko was spot on, and I wonder if Narasaki is trying Sachiko to get confronted with that with talking to Lily again herself.

  • And of course, we have Sachiko mentioning Narasaki the first time and she never was actually there.

A tour inside Sachiko’s head!

Or so I thought, right before seeing Narasaki at the station…

Really not sure of what’s going on.

Yup.

I’m getting that impression too, yes.

Yeah, this, plus another reference at nurses being around them in their childhood, is making me wonder if it still is a sanatorium, and it being an hotel is yet another hallucination by Sachiko…
