Hello there! I'm a1ba

Yo! My nickname online, as you guessed, is a1ba, also sometimes a1batross. I’m 27 years old. System programming is my profession. As a hobby, I’m also working on FOSS projects like xash3d-fwgs.

My first visual novel was Everlasting Summer (you might start noticing a pattern with it being the first novel for many Russian-speaking people) back in 2014, when I was in high-school.

I always liked reading, but for me, visual novels hit that specific spot of mixing literature with presentation and interactiveness. One of my favorite visual novels is Mahoutsukai no Yoru, that I finally was able to read thanks to it recent official English translation.

In recent times, I don’t have enough free time and motivation that I could use for entertainment, especially reading visual novels. I’m looking forward to this community, hoping that it would help me spark a new interest in this kind of media.

My backlog reminds an endless pit at this point, so I’m open to any suggestions.

I feel you on the time and motivation.

One thing I’ve found helps me is looking at the backlog as more of a library, a bunch of potential choices, rather than a list of tasks to be completed. Realistically, no one can ever experience the totality of what’s out there, so why make it feel like this big looming thing that is insurmountable.

Welcome, great to have you here!

Not a russian here, but I actually read Everlasting Summer a few years ago, just because it lines itself up in the row of “first” indie OELVNs (or…ORLVN in this case?). And it was pretty charming. Miku being a character in it was pretty dope too.

You are free to suggest as many things from your backlog as you want. The larger the pool, the better! :eyes:

It’s also a problem of making a choice when there are so many options, if you know what a mean.

Yeah, it became quite popular here especially and for many people was an introduction to the visual novels. It’s often compared to Katawa Shoujo, as both were born from imageboard culture.

Just did. Thanks for reminder. :3
